Yeta Camera Privacy Policy
Effective 6 November 2026
Yeta Camera is a camera app for iPhone made by Alex Chen (“the developer”, “we”). In short: your photos stay on your iPhone, the app has no account, and nothing is sent to us unless you choose to send it. The App Store version makes no network connection; a TestFlight test version makes one small check, described below.
What the app uses on your iPhone
- Camera, to take photos. iOS asks for your permission first. From the Lock Screen (Camera Control), the app shows the camera’s live picture and asks you to unlock; it saves nothing there.
- Photos (add only), only if you turn on auto-save to the system album or export a photo. The app can add photos to your library but cannot read it.
- The app’s own storage, where your photos (DNG and JPEG), edits, settings and, if you turn it on, the usage log are kept. None of it is shown in the Files app or on a computer; photos leave only when you share, export or back them up. The usage log is left out of iCloud and computer backups.
The app does not use your location, contacts, microphone or any advertising identifier, and it contains no analytics or advertising code.
Your photos
Photos are taken, developed and stored on your iPhone. They are never uploaded by the app. They leave your iPhone only when you share or export them yourself, when the Photos app syncs your library through your own iCloud settings, or in your iPhone’s iCloud or computer backup, under your own backup settings. Photo files record the app’s name and version and the camera’s usual details (iPhone model, lens, exposure, date, time and time zone); they contain no location. A photo you delete can be brought back with Undo for a few seconds; then it is erased.
The check in test versions
A TestFlight test version reads one small file on our website (yeta.studio), at most once a day, to learn whether Yeta Camera is out on the App Store, so it can remind you to move before the test version stops opening. It sends nothing of yours: no photos, no account, no identifier, and no cookies. Like any web request, it shows your IP address to the website’s host, Cloudflare, in order to deliver the file. We keep no request logs for this site: Cloudflare shows us only totals, such as the number of requests and the countries they came from, and we don’t use the check to count or recognise anyone. The App Store version doesn’t contain this check.
The usage log
The app can keep a usage log on your iPhone to help find bugs. It is off unless you turn it on in Settings › About › Usage log, after the app tells you what it records. Some test versions from TestFlight start with it on; Settings says so, and you can turn it off there at any time. It records what was tapped and where on the screen, which pages and settings were used, how the iPhone was held, camera events, which photos were taken, edited, exported or deleted (by their file names), freezes and crashes, memory, processor, heat (iOS’s thermal state) and battery readings, free storage, and the iPhone model and iOS version. It does not contain your photos, anything you type, your name, your contacts or any device identifier.
- The log stays on your iPhone. The newest logs up to about 200 MB are kept; older ones are deleted automatically.
- It is sent to us only if you tap Settings › About › Send usage log. The app first tells you what the email will contain, then opens an email to us that you review and send yourself, with the newest logs (up to about 20 MB) and a note of the app version, iPhone model, iOS version and language and region setting attached. Without Mail set up, it opens the share sheet instead, and you choose where the file goes. By email we receive the log and your email address; the email passes through your email provider and ours (Cloudflare, which forwards it, and Gmail).
- You can turn the log off at any time in Settings › About › Usage log; while it is on, Settings says so. Turning it off stops the recording; logs already on your iPhone stay there until you delete the app, and are sent only if you send them yourself as above.
We use logs you send only to find and fix problems in the app, never for advertising, and we don’t share them with anyone. We delete them once the problem they describe is solved, and within 12 months at the latest.
TestFlight and Apple
If you test the app through TestFlight, Apple collects information such as crash reports, the feedback and screenshots you choose to send, and basic device details, and shares them with us under Apple’s own terms. See Apple’s TestFlight privacy information in the TestFlight app.
Beta survey
We may send testers a link to a short survey, a Google Form. It is not part of the app, and answering it is up to you. It asks how you take photos, what you think of the app and about any problems you had; your name is optional. If you say you are open to staying in touch, it also asks for your email address and whether we may write to you only about beta testing and product feedback, or also about future product news and updates.
- Answers are stored in the developer’s Google account (Google Forms and Google Sheets). The form does not record your Google account; Google may process technical details such as your IP address under its own privacy policy.
- We use your answers only to improve the app, and your email only to write to you about what you chose. We never sell or share them, or use them for advertising.
- We delete survey answers within 12 months after the beta ends. Your name and email are kept only while you want to hear from us: reply to any of our emails or write to the address below to stop, and we delete them.
Email from the public test sign-up
On yeta.studio you can leave your email address and agree to receive information about Yeta Camera’s public test: surveys, interview invitations and test announcements. This is optional: the TestFlight link works without it.
- We keep your email address, the language of the page and the time you agreed. We don’t keep your IP address, and we can’t connect your email address to your use of the app or to your TestFlight activity. Like any web request, sending the form shows your IP address to the website’s host, Cloudflare, which uses it for a moment to limit repeated attempts.
- Your address is stored in a database at Cloudflare, encrypted in transit and at rest. Emails we send you pass through our email provider.
- We use your address only for the public test, as above. We never sell or share it, or use it for advertising.
- To stop, reply to any of our emails or write to the address below, and we delete your address. Otherwise we delete it within 12 months after the public test ends.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone by itself.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes its photos, edits, settings and logs from your iPhone (photos you saved to the Photos app stay there). To get a copy of a log, survey answers or an email address you gave us, or to have them deleted, write to us at the address below.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
